Sacred Heart College is committed to meeting the educational and social emotional needs of its most highly able students through our Learning Enhancement Program.
The Program supports these students in fulfilling their potential within a supportive and challenging classroom environment, ultimately preparing them for community engagement and leadership.
With the aim of fostering a culture of learning, the Program challenges our students through internal differentiation, and external extension and enrichment. Teachers collaborate using contemporary pedagogical approaches to develop differentiated tasks and assessments that capture the student’s curiosity and allow for their full potential to be demonstrated. Students are provided with the opportunity to work with like-minded peers sharing their knowledge and passion for learning.
2020 saw the commencement of the Sacred Heart College Learning Enhancement Program across Years 7 and 8, to be extended to Year 9 in 2021. With the aim of meeting the needs of our most highly able students, the Program provides nominated students with differentiated learning opportunities across the core subjects, and participating students were excited to be provided with the opportunity to work with like-minded peers sharing their knowledge and passion for learning.
Whilst external opportunities have been limited in 2020, some of the challenges Learning Enhancement Program students have enjoyed participating in this year have included the APSMO Maths Olympiad, HTAV History Masterclasses and various writing competitions. Congratulations to all the participating students, and as opportunities for external enrichment return in 2021, participating in many more similar challenges is something we are all looking forward to!
