Year 12 VCE Food Studies

Year 12 Food Studies students recently took part in a hands-on activity called 'Gum to Bum' to learn about the digestive system. Despite some laughs and a few gross-out moments, the activity helped us visualise how food is digested both mechanically and chemically. 

We saw how bile (salt), acids and enzymes (food coloured water) work together to turn food into broken down macronutrients, and how leftover waste gets a dose of good bacteria (100's and 1000's) before leaving the body. This experience should help us remember key knowledge for our upcoming SAC.
