Year 7 & 8 Food Technology – Healthy Hamburger Design Brief

This Term in Food Technology we have been working on a design brief to create a healthy hamburger teenagers would enjoy. Students had an opportunity to brainstorm typical burger ingredients and recipe ideas, then create a shopping list to make the burger of their choice. During a practical lesson they had fun independently creating their hamburgers. Afterwards they evaluated how healthy their burger was and also analysed it’s sensory properties.

Year 9 Food Technology – Multicultural foods

Students had an opportunity to research a country of their choice, to form an understanding of the typical cuisine there and what is commonly cooked and prepared. They investigated different savoury recipes from their selected country, then during a practical lesson, cooked a dish of their choice. The room was a buzz with lots of different cooking techniques, ingredients, and aromas. Students really enjoyed and opportunity to independently try something new and get creative in the kitchen.
